The event itself is from June 24th to June 27th 2010! But we strongly recommend you to get here by June 23rd to enjoy the Saint-Jean-Baptist’s festivities all night long! Québec City is also a beautiful City: You might want to take extra days to enjoy!

The St-Jean-Baptiste is a very important day for Quebecers. It’s their National Day so they have a day off on the 24th! It’s the celebration of the St-Patron of the French Canadians: St-Jean Baptiste. It also marks the summer solstice.
In Quebec City, the St-Jean-Baptiste is celebrated by an elaborate party on the Plaines of Abraham, where French-Canadian bands perform all night long on June 23rd to commemorate the St-Jean. Of course, for French –Canadians, where there’s a party, there’s alcohol (and LOTS of it). On the 23rd of June, people are aloud to drink in the streets. There is also a HUGE bonfire on the Plaines. It is a French-Canadian tradition to light a bonfire and to present a Fireworks show on that particular night. About 250 000 people visit the Plaines of Abraham to party on that night! The Plaines of Abraham is really where it’s happening on that night so people from all over the province come to Québec City to celebrate!
